We had a fantastic day on Sunday, exhibiting at The Vintage Wedding Fayre - Sutton Coldfield Town Hall, organized by the lovely ladies at James Jones Events!
We had a very hectic day as we supplied the dresses for the catwalk show at lunchtime, the gorgeous models had their hair done by Karen Bebbington of KDB Vintage Hairstyling, and make up by Michelle Langford at The Perfect Make Up they wore 6 of our dresses.
We also launched 2 new full length dresses, more details to come on these!
Our 3 new dresses! (Not named yet!)
The Peggy Dress, The Taylor Dress and The Lola-Rose Dress
We will be exhibiting at The Vintage Wedding Fayre this autumn! (Oh and did I mention we are doing the catwalk show too!!)
I'm so in love with this fab pastel fabric! It is so delicate with the tiniest white spots, very subtle! The bride has decided on 2 dresses in each style for her 4 adult bridesmaids, and matching large polka dot bows for her flower girls! The look is completed with ivory 3 layer Alice underskirts cheekily peeking out from below the hems!
So, Sharon is back from her honeymoon has has sent me so many photographs of her beautiful Greek wedding, I think of Mama Mia every time I look at them - just fabulous!
(Sharon chose a custom Lola-Rose dress with lace overlay and her bridesmaids wore Lola-Rose dresses in Liberty blue silk) Thanks to Sharon and Hubby for sharing with us.......
I was super excited this morning when I got up to find a sneak preview of Sharon's wedding sent to me! (Thanks Sharon!!)
Sharon and hubby got married yesterday on the Greek island of Rhodes in a little chapel bathed in wonderful sunshine - so romantic! Congratulations to you both!
Sharon chose a custom Lola-Rose dress in ivory silk with a pretty ivory lace overlay, and for her bridesmaids Lola-Rose dresses in beautiful Liberty blue silk.......
Jane first contacted me through my Etsy shop and ordered 3 custom 1950's style bridesmaids dresses, (including a maternity dress) all made in matching pink floral cotton. Not too long after I was very honored when she asked me to make her wedding dress too, after many late night emails the details were decided and The Fremont Dess was commissioned!
The dress was inspired by Grace Kelly's character in the film The Rear Window, and was to be sublte but "quite dreamy and romantic"! Jane chose shell pink silk for her dress with a fabulous overlay of fluffy tulle (pink underneath and ivory on the top), with a 4 layer pink underskirt to match.
Jane got married in the wonderful June sunshine at Hereford Town Hall and has sent me these absolutely gorgeous photographs:
"We had a truly perfect day...the weather was wonderful....and everyone thought the dresses were gorgeous. We were married at Hereford Town Hall, and the reception was held at The Castle House Hotel also in Hereford" - Jane x
Tailored dress with pretty cap sleeves made in sunflower yellow duchess satin with grey corded lace overlay and matching jacket featuring 3/4 length sleeves.
So, this dress has been a year in the planning/making and now I can finally share it with you all!
I met a gorgeous bride to be at a vintage wedding fayre we exhibited at in Nottingham last summer. She tried on our Kelly Dress and thought she had found "the one". Her bridesmaids were having Lola-Rose dresses in beautiful Liberty blue fabric and out of curiosity she tried Lola-Rose on too, this was to be her dress! She was very clear from the start that she wanted a lace dress, so all options were explored and a first visit booked to discuss fabrics.
Our bride chose a silk fabric in pale ivory, with a corded lace overlay in a slightly darker shade of ivory. The dress was finished off with a simple plain silk belt (to which she has a fab vintage brooch to pin on) and a 4 layer petticoat trimmed in ivory satin.
Watch out for the official wedding photo's coming soon!
I thought you might like to see a variation of the Betty Bridesmaid dress I was asked to make as part of a set of 3 dresses.
The lines of the dress have been kept very similar where possible, so from the back the waistline is the same level, as are the front and back necklines and sleeves, but the bust seam line has been raised to accomodate a growing baby bump! Although this dress has a circle skirt it isn't designed to be worn with a petticoat!
A few months ago I was contacted by a bride with a design idea, she wanted something subtle, dreamy and romantic with a touch of colour and loved the lines of Grace Kelly's dress, so here it is.... The Fremont Dress...
A gorgeous silk and tulle dress inspired by Grace Kelly's character - Lisa Fremont, in the film Rear Window. Made in subtle shades of ivory and shell pink for a hint of colour, and designed to fall just above the ankle!
Thought I'd share a quick pic of a custom bridesmaid dress with you all, this will be added to the shop but with a shorter 25" skirt length as standard! Made in cotton.
It has a beautiful scoop back neckline with a full circle skirt, concealed centre back zip and fully lined bodice and sleeves.
Shown made in fabulous floral cotton but is also available in plain colours, spots, patterns, ginghams, broderie anglais etc etc - too many to list!
A lovely bride to be has been in touch and asked me to make a wedding dress inspired by Grace Kelly in the film Rear Window, I'm always super excited when I get to recreate something that from the Golden Era I love the most! It's going to be in shades of pink and ivory for a subtle pop of colour. The drawing is the original design sketch by the wonderful Edith Head.
This dress will be named The Fremont Dress after Grace's character in the film - Lisa Fremont!
So this Sunday was the Middleton Hall Wedding Fayre, organized by the lovely ladies at James Jones Events. The weather although forecast to be wintery showers turned out to be gorgeous spring sunshine (and showers!) and lots of brides to be turned up to have a look at the fabulous Middleton Hall.
Our gorgeous model Beth braved the cold to venture outside so we could get some photos in the fabulous grounds, I think it was well worth it!! (Ahem, it wasn't me with blue lips so Beth may not agree!!)
Thanks to all the brides that stopped by to say hello and try on our dresses, and also a huge thank you to a Slice of Heaven Cakery who were opposite us and regularly supplied us with delicious chunks of lemon and chocolate cake and cupcakes to sample - YUMMY!
